CPV review: Decision 4c - networks to issue identity cards to drivers

Decision 4c is to required networks to issue commercial passenger vehicle identity cards.

Summary

Require networks to issue identity cards to drivers and take reasonable steps to monitor who the actual driver is.

The Northern Territory (NT) Government, in consultation with industry, will further develop current measures for issuing commercial passenger vehicle identity cards (CPVID).

Alternate card designs will be developed with industry.

Once implemented, the NT Government will discontinue issuing Identity cards. This is reliant on the amendment of the Commercial Passenger (Road) Transport Act 1991.

Status

All CPV networks in the NT have been provided with their individual templates to immediately begin issuing their own CPVID cards.

Independent operators are still required to contact the NT Government for their CPVID cards until further notice.
