Implementation status | Partially completed, partially deferred |
Priority | High |
Summary
High occupancy and multiple hire rates will be removed in conjunction with the next taxi fare review.
Status
Removal of the high occupancy rate has been deferred for a 12-month period.
Following extensive consultation with the members of the CPV Review Advisory Forum (CPVRAF), the government has received approval from the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics to defer the removal of the high occupancy tariff for a 12-month period, whilst the industry considers alternatives.
Members of the CPVRAF agreed that the removal of the multiple hire rate was appropriate, given the complexity of the structure of the fare.
On 30 September 2022, the multiple hire tariff was removed, in line with the recent taxi fare increase.
