Electric vehicle discussion paper

Did you know you can drive from Darwin to Alice Springs in an electric car?

The Northern Territory Government has released an Electric Vehicle (EV) discussion paper to help form a strategy for EVs in the NT.

Discussion paper snapshot

With the introduction of lower cost EVs into Australia over the next few years, there is likely to be increased use and greater demand for supporting infrastructure. However, the potential for supporting the uptake of EVs in the Northern Territory requires careful consideration.

The aim of the discussion paper is to communicate information regarding EV issues and opportunities for the Northern Territory and to seek feedback from key stakeholders and the community.

The EV discussion paper explores some issues and opportunities for the NT including the role of government in developing charging infrastructure. Feedback on the discussion paper will assist in developing an EV strategy and implementation plan which are expected to be finalised during 2020.
