In June 2017, the Alice Springs Regional Flood Mitigation Advisory Committee released a report that provides recommendations and measures for managing and reducing the flood risk in the Alice Springs region. Read the Final Alice Springs Flood Mitigation Report (2017) PDF (7.5 MB).
A contract to survey floor levels for habitable buildings across Alice Springs with the Q100 flood zone has been awarded to Fyfe Pty Ltd.
The survey work is separated into four areas and the proposed dates for survey are:
Dates | Suburbs |
---|---|
15 June – 14 July | East Side, Stuart, Braitling |
15 July – 14 August | Gillen, Larapinta |
15 August – 14 September | Alice Springs CBD, The Gap, Desert Springs, Mount Johns |
15 September – 14 October | Ilparpa, Ross, Arumbera |
The data from the survey will help develop the most effective flood mitigation strategies for Alice Springs. It will be available for public comment once flood modelling has been completed.
