90 Bay Parliamentary Car Park redevelopment

The Northern Territory Government is redeveloping the 90 Bay Parliamentary Car Park next to Parliament House. The project will extend the landscaping works recently completed above the State Square Underground Car Park in the Darwin CBD to further encompass the adjacent site.

The redevelopment will include a generous lawn area and services infrastructure, which can accommodate community events and activities. Pathways will connect Civic and State Square and the Native Landscape Garden atop the Underground Car Park to the Esplanade, with shade from tree canopies where possible and all elements including planting, lighting, furniture and finishes will be integrated seamlessly into the landscaping design.

Landscaping will include:

  • Demolition of the existing 90 Bay Parliamentary Car Park
  • Re-configuring Parliament Lane to enable ongoing access to the Parliament House Gatehouse from the Esplanade
  • Landscaping that aesthetically compliments the Native Landscape Garden atop the State Square Underground Car Park.

Access will still be available via the existing Parliament House Gatehouse and parking bays will be created for service vehicles.
