Compulsory safety recall - Takata airbags
In February 2018, the Australian Government announced a compulsory recall of vehicles with defective Takata airbags. These airbags can misdeploy causing death or serious injury.
The Department is pleased to release its Strategic Plan 2018-2021 which outlines the agency’s direction for the next three years.
Parap Road Safety Centre Closure
Infrastructure upgrades for the Parap Road Safety Centre are planned from 2 – 23 July 2018.

Commercial Boating Changes in the NT
From 1 July 2018, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority will provide all domestic commercial vessel certificate services.
Works are about to start on the tri-level government funded Barneson Boulevard and Tiger Brennan Drive Stage 3 project with the announcement of the successful tenderer. Local company Territoria Civil has been awarded the project for $45.35 million.
State Square Underground Car Park
The contract for the 450 space, three level underground car park was awarded to local company Tomazos Group PTY LTD for $19.4 million and is anticipated to support 60 construction jobs and 165 jobs across the wider sector during construction.
A local company PTM Group PTY LTD has been awarded the contract to construct a 55-metre cool, green canopy over Cavenagh Street for $2.7 million.
