Milingimbi Airstrip

Seal and Widening Works Starting 12 June.

The seal and widening works of the Milingimbi Airstrip is a high priority for the Northern Territory Government. It will enable the return of larger regular public transport flights to Milingimbi, reducing travel expenses and time for locals and visitors to and from Milingimbi.

The contract to seal and widen the Milingimbi airstrip was awarded to Yingwati a local Darwin based Aboriginal Business for $2.08 million. It will generate 12 jobs for Territorians for the duration of the works.

Normal Airport landing and departing operations will be possible every day with restrictions. Monday to Fridays the airport will be open from 11:30am to 1:00pm and from Dusk until Dawn. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays the airport will be open from 11:30am to 2:00pm and from Dusk until Dawn.

The Airport will be closed during the remaining hours for construction works.

Construction is anticipated to start 12 June with the project due for completion by 15 August.
