Garramilla Boulevard is now open to all traffic from Dinah Beach Road to the McMinn Street intersection. Stage one is complete with landscaping, footpaths and street lighting installed.
The iconic third entry point to Darwin’s CBD will provide a cool streetscape with much-needed pedestrian and cyclist linkages and provide roadside amenities such as seating and an outdoor amphitheatre.
Works will now commence on the duplication of Tiger Brennan Drive and continue to progress on Garramilla Boulevard from the McMinn Street intersection to the Cavenagh Street intersection. During the eight months that Tiger Brennan Drive will be closed to complete these works, motorists are advised to use Garramilla Boulevard or the Stuart Highway to visit the Darwin CBD.
The Australian Government has committed $29.5 million to the Garramilla Boulevard and Tiger Brennan Drive Stage 3 project, with the Northern Territory Government committing $15 million and the City of Darwin committing a further $5 million.
