Acacia Hill School Upgrades
Brighter futures and better facilities are within reach for Acacia Hill School students.
As Stage One of the Acacia Hill School upgrade project reaches 95 per cent completion, about 80 Territory students with additional needs will have brand new classrooms to move into from Term 1, 2019.
The project will deliver ultra-modern, specialist facilities that will enable teachers to expand student learning from early childhood right through to secondary years.
Delivered in two stages, Stage One of the upgrade will see the construction of three new classrooms and an all-abilities accessible playground.
Two of the new classrooms will cater specially for students with higher physical needs who require assisted bathroom facilities and hoist tracks. The third classroom is designed for satellite classes that cater for the individual needs of students on the autism spectrum.
Stage Two will mitigate flooding issues and see construction of a formalised car park, new administration building, multipurpose hall, art room, library and sensory spaces in a new location.
Stage One is expected to be completed by 30 December 2018 and Stage Two by 10 July 2019.
The Northern Territory Government is committed to supporting our local industry with the $6.7 million tender awarded to Alice Springs company, Scope Building NT Pty Ltd.
Over 100 local jobs will be supported over the project lifetime including apprentices, Aboriginal workers, full-time employees and subcontractors.
