Commercial passenger vehicles body worn camera trial
On Monday, 16 May 2022, commercial passenger vehicle (CPV) compliance officers (inspectors) will commence a 6-month trial of the use of body worn cameras (BWCs) when performing their duties.
This includes when they conduct on-road audits of CPVs.
BWCs will make audio-visual recordings of interactions between compliance officers and people they are communicating with in line with the CPV compliance body worn camera policy. Read the policy .
The trial is part of the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics' commitment to ensure that CPVs, including taxis, minibuses and rideshare, operate in a safe and reliable condition to help industry meet the community’s needs and expectations to deliver modern, passenger-focused services.
