Commercial passenger vehicles body worn camera trial

Published

On Monday, 16 May 2022, commercial passenger vehicle (CPV) compliance officers (inspectors) will commence a 6-month trial of the use of body worn cameras (BWCs) when performing their duties.

This includes when they conduct on-road audits of CPVs.

BWCs will make audio-visual recordings of interactions between compliance officers and people they are communicating with in line with the CPV compliance body worn camera policy. Read the policy PDF (733.5 KB).

The trial is part of the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics' commitment to ensure that CPVs, including taxis, minibuses and rideshare, operate in a safe and reliable condition to help industry meet the community’s needs and expectations to deliver modern, passenger-focused services.
