Do you want to be part of the changing face of the Northern Territory? Are you passionate about development, the environment, design, architecture and town planning?

Applications for Specialist Members of the Development Consent Authority (DCA) are now open to Territorians who want to contribute to decisions about how their town or city develops.

If you have skills, qualifications or experience in town planning or related fields such as engineering, environmental studies or architectural design, want to utilise those skills to contribute to your community in a practical and meaningful way, and are committed to the continuing growth and development of the Territory, then this could be the role for you.

As a Specialist Member of the DCA you will play an integral role in the community by reviewing, considering and determining development applications within your division area. There are seven divisions of the DCA – Darwin, Palmerston, Litchfield, Bachelor, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. Two positions are available in each division.

The DCA is an independent authority appointed by the Minister under the Planning Act 1999. The DCA’s role is to make decisions on development applications including subdivisions, take action to enforce planning rules and hold public hearings on behalf of the Minister.

As a Specialist Member of the DCA you are financially remunerated and are asked to attend meetings to discuss and determine development applications in your division area.

The appointments will commence on 12 April 2023 and will be for a two-year period.

For further information, call the DCA Secretary on 8999 6044 or to apply, download the factsheet DOCX (64.0 KB) and registration form DOCX (64.6 KB) .
