Free Boat Safety Day Update

Published

On 31 March 2018 a boating safety awareness campaign was undertaken at the Dinah Beach Boat Ramp which included free boat safety checks and a draw to win a $500 Boating Accessory Voucher.

We would like to thank all of the participants that attended on the day and congratulate Daniel Bartlett on winning the $500 Boating Accessory Voucher. We hope you enjoy your voucher.

There was a great turn out on the day, with 30 recreational boats checked by Officers from the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Marine Branch. Officers were pleased to see that people were generally well prepared for their trip.

It’s important for all owners and operators to familiarise themselves with the safety equipment requirements and ensure that all equipment is in good condition, complies with regulations and is readily available when needed.

The day provided a valuable opportunity for Officers to talk to recreational boat owners about complying with the rules on the water, being in control at all times and staying safe. Don’t put yourself and others at risk by operating a boat in an unsafe manner.

The Northern Territory Water Police conduct frequent checks for compliance with marine regulations.

So remember, before your next fishing trip make sure you Check. Plan. Go. Plan ahead, make sure you check the tides and road closures, you can check road closures across the Territory on the Road Report website.
