The Northern Territory Planning Commission

The Northern Territory Planning Commission is an independent statutory authority.

It sets the strategic framework for integrated land use, transport and infrastructure planning, working to deliver more sustainable and cost-effective outcomes for the community that reflect environmental and heritage values.

The Commission consults with the community to develop strategic plans and policies for inclusion in the Planning Scheme and advises on significant development proposals.

Greater Holtze Area Plan

The Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics is considering including the Greater Holtze Area Plan in the Northern Territory Planning Scheme 2020. The exhibition period of the proposed Planning Scheme Amendment was from Friday 8 September 2023 to Friday 6 October 2023.

The Northern Territory Planning Commission has previously conducted two stages of consultation in  preparing an Area Plan for Greater Holtze.  The area includes Holtze, Kowandi, Holtze North and Howard Springs North.

Humpty Doo Rural Activity Centre Area Plan - Stage 2B

One of the things we heard strongly from the community through two earlier rounds of consultation in 2018 was feedback around the arterial and local road networks. The recent completion of a concept design for the future duplication of the Arnhem Highway by the NT Government now allows work on the Area Plan to resume.

The Planning Commission now has revised and updated the draft Humpty Doo Rural Activity Centre Area Plan, taking into account what we now know from the Arnhem Highway Duplication Planning Study as well as what we heard from earlier consultation.

Your thoughts, comments, questions and feedback on the draft Plan were sought during Stage 2B consultation to help the Planning Commission to refine and finalise the Humpty Doo Rural Activity Centre Area Plan.
