Port Keats Road: Moyle floodplain

The Port Keats Road services the communities of Wadeye (Port Keats), Peppimenarti and Palumpa. 

Each year the Port Keats Road is closed at various crossings or rated as impassable due to flooding, saturated pavement or other issues.

The works are jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory Governments under the Regional Roads Productivity Package.

The works are located approximately 108km from the Daly River Bridge on Port Keats Road.

Benefits

Reduce the number of days the Port Keats Road is closed/impassable during the wet season.

Improving and providing safer access for locals and tourism.

Project timeline

The project is due for completion in July 2016.

Current works

Works have commenced. Temporary speed restrictions are in place. Motorists are urged to travel with care and adhere to all signage in place.

  • a new 2km section of sealed road
  • raising an 18km section of road and sealing.

Improving flood immunity: Port Keats Road - Moyle Floodplain

Jointly funded by the Australian and Northern Territory Government’s Regional Roads Productivity Package Program, Port Keats Road around Moyle floodplain will be upgraded to include a new section of road which will reduce the number of days the road is impassable for.
