Buntine Highway

Work is now completed on the strengthening and widening to three sections of the Buntine Highway to a two-lane standard:

  • section 1: 107.96 - 110.82km
  • section 2: 250.85 - 256.92km
  • section 3: 277.52 - 283.01km

This project was jointly funded by both the Northern Territory Government and the Australian Government's Regional Roads Productivity Package(RRPP).

These works have improved access and safety by strengthening areas of weak pavement and providing improved passing opportunities for motorists.


Improved access to the Buntine Highway through upgrading areas prone to flood damage.

Provided safer passing/overtaking opportunities.

Widened sections of road to two lanes.

Project timeline

The project was complete and open to motorists on 15 July 2016.

Current works

There are no works currently taking place, with the road open and operational to all motorists.
