New Palmerston Special School

Construction of the new special school for the Palmerston region is progressing well with the project on track to be completed in October, 2016.

Construction will include; three buildings with general learning areas, hydrotherapy pool, multi-purpose hall, specialised outdoor learning areas, administration building and security access control of doors throughout the school. Significant outdoor play areas with the principal of outdoor lifestyle development have also been included.

The new school will provide families with special needs children living in the Palmerston and rural region greater access to specialised education.

$21.35 million was allocated in the 2015 Budget for stage one of the new school, with an expected completion date of late 2016 with the school to be operational by early 2017.
